Micro influencers such as @katz__kitchen and @Nourishandflourishsyd have under 30k followers, however high engagement rates. They captivate their audience with delectable recipes, inspiring everyone with their creation. These micro influencers establish genuine connections through relatable authenticity, influencing opinions, preferences, and purchasing decisions despite their smaller follower count.

Sophie’s focus on creating delicious healthy-ish recipes not only caters to a specific audience but also contributes to shaping preferences and choices. Here’s a brief summary of the impacts influencers have on PR campaigns:
As fantastic as this all sounds, influencers don’t always have a positive impact. Influencers come with their own opinions and any misstep from you can result into them ‘deinfluencing’ your brand and a potential boycott.
Here are three tips on how to best engage with influencers:
We love to effectively engage influencers to enhance our PR campaigns. We’ll take you through two client examples in which our influencer relations resulted in amplified brand visibility, heightened product awareness, and a significant boost in audience engagement.
Noshu is a confectionary brand that is dedicated to low-sugar and low-carb treats. As part of our dual PR campaign to launch their newest product, ‘75% less sugar Mind Blowing Jellies’ we crafted an impactful influencer strategy. Our mission for the influencers was to each showcase creative ways to promote the new jellies. With a broad target audience of mums to nutritionists we wanted unique content from each influencer. For this strategy we engaged a mix of micro influencers who have built great connections with their loyal followers and macro influencers looking to set viral trends. With the right investment into the right influencers, Noshu has reached millions of Australians, spreading awareness of their new product and their key messages. Here are some of our favourite pieces of content:
At Papaya, our longstanding collaboration with the ABFA (Australian Barramundi Farmers Association) has been instrumental in promoting Australian Farmed Barramundi through strategic PR efforts. This past Easter we launched a targeted influencer campaign encouraging Aussies to include barramundi in their festive celebrations and supporting our local Barramundi Farmers. Despite having budget constraints for influencer fees, we devised a strategic and compelling influencer engagement plan, recognising the importance of personalised communication. Our approach focused on building on existing relations and showing a genuine interest in the influencers content and aligning it seamlessly with our campaign mission.
The results were impressive, as we successfully enlisted the support of 15 influencers spanning from micro to macro influencers. We challenged them to create unique barramundi recipes for their Easter festivities, resulting in a diverse range of engaging content. Here are our favourites:
Just keep in mind, even when working with a limited budget, this highlights the effectiveness of a well-crafted strategy and a personalized approach. It demonstrates that achieving impactful outreach and spreading your PR message is achievable, as our efforts resonated with a wide audience, achieving an impressive reach of 715,300 during the Easter season.
